Former Wigan Athletic and Werder Bremen player Franco Di Santo didn’t feature for San Lorenzo who ended their Copa Sudamericana campaign with a 3-0 away win over Huachipato in Group A but the win was not enough to overhaul their opponents on the final group standings.

Argentine striker Nicholas Fernandez played a big role for San Lorenzo in the big win over Huachipato after he found the back of the net twice in the first half. He gave the visitors the lead inside ten minutes before adding a second goal for his team shortly after the half hour mark to give San Lorenzo a 2-0 advantage at the interval. Luis Sequeira wrapped up the convincing win for San Lorenzo at the start of the second half. Sequeira put paid to the ambitions of Huachipato coming back to get something from the matchday six game with the third goal after nine second half minutes.

Franco Di Santo featured last for San Lorenzo in the home defeat to Rosario Central on matchday four in Group A. He was named in the starting XI as San Lorenzo were beaten 2-1 at home by Rosario Central. San Lorenzo didn’t win any of their first four matches in the group until the penultimate group game at the home of 12 de Octubre last week Thursday. The Argentine club then made it two wins in a row with the big victory over Huachipato on Wednesday.
