DI SANTO: BARREN RUN CONTINUES

Argentine striker Franco Di Santo is still waiting for his first goal in a San Lorenzo shirt following his free transfer move for Brazilian Serie A outfit Atletico Mineiro last year. Franco Di Santo didn’t have the best of starts at San Lorenzo in his native Argentina due to injury.

He has to recuperate from injury for a few months before he finally made his debut in November 2020. Franco Di Santo made his debut for San Lorenzo against Argentinos Juniors. He came on as a substitute at the start of the second half for Mariano Peralta as San Lorenzo beat their opponents 2-0 at home. Oscar Romero and Angel Romero got the goals for San Lorenzo either side of the break.

His next game was in the away clash with Estudiantes. Franco Di Santo also came on as a second half substitute for Mariano Peralta like what’s obtainable with the Argentinos Juniors game. Hosts Estudiantes and San Lorenzo played out a goalless draw.Franco Di Santo made his first start for his new team in the home game with Aldosivibut he was unable to influence the game much despite playing the entire duration of the match. San Lorenzo and Aldosivi played out a scoreless draw. He was retained for the next league game, a 2-0 loss to Tallares at home.

Franco Di Santo played 77 minutes before being subbed off for Mariano Peralta. Franco Di Santo started a third successive league game for San Lorenzo in the 2-2 draw with Colon at home. San Lorenzo earned a share of the spoils with a late penalty from Oscar Romero. Bruno Pitton was the other goalscorerfor San Lorenzo. Franco Di Santo came on as a second half substitute for Nicholas Ezequiel but he was unable to prevent San Lorenzo from losing 4-1 to hosts Banfield. He played the final 12 minutes of the game.
