DI SANTO MISSES OUT ON WIN

San Lorenzo striker Franco Di Santo was absent again as his Argentine team finished its 2021 Copa Sudamericana group stage campaign with a big win over Huachipato. Franco Di Santo has now missed the last two games through injury. He was also absent for the 2-0 away victory over 12 de Octubre in the penultimate group match for San Lorenzo in the competition.

Former Wigan Athletic and Werder Bremen player Franco Di Santo didn’t feature for San Lorenzo who ended their Copa Sudamericana campaign with a 3-0 away win over Huachipato in Group A but the win was not enough to overhaul their opponents on the final group standings.

COPA LIBERTADORES: DI SANTO ON TARGET

Argentine striker Franco Di Santo was on target but it was not enough to see his club beyond the third round of the Copa Libertadores. He scored one of the goals for San Lorenzo in a 2-2 draw at the home of Brazilian top flight club Santos.

Santos and San Lorenzo met over two legs in the third round of this year’s Copa Libertadores and it was the Brazilians who progressed to the next round at the end of proceedings. Santos took initiative of the tie with the 3-1 away win in the first leg.

DI SANTO: BARREN RUN CONTINUES

Argentine striker Franco Di Santo is still waiting for his first goal in a San Lorenzo shirt following his free transfer move for Brazilian Serie A outfit Atletico Mineiro last year. Franco Di Santo didn’t have the best of starts at San Lorenzo in his native Argentina due to injury.

He has to recuperate from injury for a few months before he finally made his debut in November 2020. Franco Di Santo made his debut for San Lorenzo against Argentinos Juniors. He came on as a substitute at the start of the second half for Mariano Peralta as San Lorenzo beat their opponents 2-0 at home. DI SANTO MAKES SAN LORENZO DEBUT

 

Argentine striker Franco Di Santo has finally made his debut for San Lorenzo in the Primera Division in his native Argentina. The ex-Werder Bremen, Chelsea and Audax Italiano striker moved to San Lorenzo in the summer and his first appearance for the club was delayed by an injury. Franco Di Santo joined San Lorenzo on a free transfer at the end of his contract with Atletico Mineiro in the Brazilian Serie A.


Franco Di Santo made his debut in the league as he came on for Mariano Peralta at the start of the second half of the game with Argentinos Juniors. At the stage, hosts San Lorenzo were leading 1-0 at home through the goal from Oscar Romero on the stroke of half-time. Angel Romero would go on to wrap up the points for San Lorenzo on 55 minutes as Di Santo made a winning debut courtesy the 2-0 home victory over Argentinos Juniors. The debut for Franco Di Santo came on Monday, November 23, 2020.

LAMPARD KEEN ON KANTE

 

Frank Lampard is keen on retaining the services of NGolo Kante ahead of next season. There have been reports that the World Cup winner could be sold in the summer to finance arrivals. The reports emerged last week that the former Leicester City midfielder could be sold. Since the reports emerged, several clubs have made their intention known.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus are among the clubs to have registered an interest in the player. Former Blues striker Franco Di Santo believes it will be counter productive should his former sides choose to sell the experienced Kante. He stated that Kante is among the best in his position and the club will struggle to get the same quality in the transfer market.

CHELSEA TO BATTLE RIVALS FOR MARTINEZ

Lautaro Martinez is attracting interest among top clubs in Europe. Argentina international’s performance this season has alerted a series of top clubs and they are said to be eyeing a move for the player in the summer.


Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Juventus and Manchester United have all been linked with the player. The January transfer window has come and gone but rumour about Martinez leaving the San siro has refused to go away.
